India is buying serious watches again — faster than anywhere else on earth. The boutiques are opening from Gurugram to Koramangala, the duties are falling year by year, and a generation that grew up on phone clocks is discovering what it feels like to wear a machine that was assembled by hand and will outlive its owner.
But every one of those watches arrives on one strap. One. A wardrobe of a single outfit.
One watch with four straps is four watches. We exist to make that arithmetic irresistible.
What we believe
- Mechanical only. Springs, jewels, oil. If your watch needs a charger, we respect your choices and cannot help you.
- The number comes first. Every strap is sold by honest lug width. We stock 21mm because HydroConquest and Submariner owners deserve dignity.
- ₹4,000 should feel like ₹12,000. A strap on a ₹5 lakh watch cannot be an afterthought. Full-grain leather, FKM rubber, 316L hardware, double-shouldered bars — always.
- Quick release, always. The eight-second swap is the whole point. Tools are for the watchmaker's bench.
- Honesty about fit. Integrated cases, proprietary systems, curved ends — if a strap won't sit right on your watch, we'll tell you before you pay, not after.
- Watch culture beyond the wrist. The art, the paper, the journal — because this hobby lives in the head long before it lives on the wrist.
Who's behind this
A collector who got tired of choosing between ₹800 straps that insulted the watch and ₹15,000 straps that insulted the wallet. alug is the middle path: connoisseur-grade materials, Indian sensibility, priced for rotation.
We're starting with straps, art and paper. Where it goes next depends on the wrists that join us.
